A few minutes walk up the road from the Basilica of Bom Jesus is Monte Santo or Holy Hill where one haunted tower of the Church of the Augustinian Monastery is all that remains of a once splendid vaulted structure. Another archaeological interest place is the temple of Mahadev situated in Tambdi Surla, which is sole surviving specimen of the Kadamba architecture.
